OT: Site Redesign – Any Feedback?

Monday, August 22nd, 2005

We just finished up the redesign and build of the site for the company where I work. Just thought I’d blog it because it took me a long time to do the design and the Flash build. Can’t wait till Flash 8 – there are some areas (like the font rendering) I would like to touch up- but overall I think it came out pretty good. Your comments appreciated.

Do You Like Video with an Alpha Channel? Do You Like Flash?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

If you want to see some excellent usage of FLVs with alpha channels under the new Maelstrom Player then check out this page on macromedia.com. Excellent and fairly seamless integration of video containing people. Once you start playing with this mini-site you will realize that you can’t get this kind of effect, technology or performance with anything today. This site really got my mind going about some of the stuff we will be seeing soon.

Best Flash 8 Example I’ve Seen So Far

Tuesday, August 9th, 2005

You probably have seen this but if not here is my favorite Flash 8 example I’ve seen so far. Nice job Justin! (Oh.. Also glad to see you read the Pixelfumes blog):

I have seen some other sweet examples – don’t get me wrong… I just LOVE the warping/cloak effect. When you gonna share that code Justin? If you guys have other sweet examples post ‘em in the comments!

Justin also posted about the problems we previously had with alpha fades and objects within the object being faded. Check that out here:

Encoding FLVs and Using Seek Controls

Tuesday, August 9th, 2005

A buddy of mine, Xtian, started into the blogging world today. His first post was about something we talked about yesterday. He was having trouble getting reliable seeking when using progressive FLVs. I told him I had that problem for a long time and finally tracked it down to the encoding process. In short – boost your keyframe interval (we both use SorensonSqueeze 4) Check out his new blog and details on the issue here:
